Education Programs... The Religious School The Religious School serves students of congregant families from four year old’s through 12th grade. Milestones include Consecration, B'nai Mitzvah, Confirmation, Post-Confirmation, and Madrichim programs for teenagers. The goals of the School are the deepening of the Jewish experience and knowledge of Judaism in order to strengthen faith in God, love of Torah, and an identification with the Jewish people as a community. Our curriculum focuses on instilling a strong Jewish identity in children, while giving them a solid background in Jewish celebrations and rituals. Enrichment programs such as art, music, dance, guest speakers, field trips, and family education days continue to contribute to a vibrant and joyful Jewish world for our students. With the help of our volunteer committees, our school is truly a “family experience”. Our enrollment is 400 students and growing. Special programs include:

Through a variety of programs currently underway, and plans for future ones in the works, opportunities abound for members to continue to explore and learn. Jewish Spiritual Practices The Jewish Spiritual Practices Group meets the second Shabbat afternoon of each month from 12:15-2:00 for lunch and learning. This year, we will be studying teachings from the Jewish mystical tradition about deepening our personal spiritual understandings and practices. Please bring a bag lunch; drinks and dessert provided. There is no charge for the class, but a $36 donation to the Adult Learning Fund is requested. The Talmud Class The Talmud Class meets in Reb Raachel's office the second Monday evening of each month, 7:30-9:00. We are studying excerpts from various tractates in English, exploring the range of subjects Talmud addresses. Course fee: TBO Members, $36; Non-members, $54. Lay-Led Torah Study Groups Two groups meet on alternating Sabbath mornings from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In Prophets and Bagels and the Torah study group, a class member leads a discussion of a portion each session. At times, one of the rabbis or a guest speaker may be invited to speak. Reading is in English, but the group benefits from those who understand and read Hebrew. Anyone is welcome at any time for this no-fee study group. Judaism The first is a course that introduces students to Judaism, and is excellent for both non Jews and people who wish to refresh their knowledge; Gateways is an introduction to Jewish prayer, theology, ethics, texts, and how to apply Judaism to daily living. :: top of page :: |
